|A road trip to Texas inspired Bob Deagen and John Berwald to open their own barbecue restaurant. Armadillo Willys’ signature wood-fired barbecue was born in California. It is named after an actual armadillo named Willy who won the 1982 state championship race in Texas. They get their ribs from Sioux City, Iowa, and serve only Angus brisket cooked for 16 to 18 hours and fresh chicken from California all cooked over a wood fire nice and slow until the meat is perfect. Don’t forget the barbecue sauce. That’s an award winner too.|
